As Martin Luther King, Jr said,
“All lasting and meaningful change begins on the inside.”
I look forward to sharing with you an approach that has been crafted over a lifetime of practice, including 20 years working with somatic movement, (how the body informs the mind) to change embedded patterns that limit effectiveness.
This has culminated in the last decade in becoming a certified trainer with the Centre for Nonviolent Communication, a master facilitator of The Virtues Project, and many years of training across a variety of platforms too numerous to name. However this includes NVC, Facilitation, Yoga , Virtues, Permaculture and living in sustainable and not so sustainable communities.
In a nutshell this is next level resilience and embodiment for effectiveness to traverse stress and communication challenges and the way they impact the human system.
Private Coaching is 1.5 hours at $180.00 per session. Minimum of 10 sessions.
How the session works:
We will identify what the purpose is for you, and honour your needs. I work with what is most alive in the moment for you, at a pace that serves you.
What is NVC?
NVC is one of the pieces of conceptual scaffolding that makes up my teaching and worldview.
Nonviolent Communication (NVC) is a mindfulness practice of attending to the way we use language - not just in speaking, but in how we listen and the meaning we make of what people say, especially when they express pain, blame and more.
Incorporating NVC into our worldview involves learning both to connect to the deep longings and values that lie within our speech, and learning what common habits of speech create disconnection.
A Nonviolent Communication practice begins with an understanding of the way that our needs, passions, and deepest values lie beneath our words, thoughts, and actions.
As we become familiar with these concepts, we learn to hear them everywhere, and we start to understand the relationship between our body sensations, our emotions (feelings) and our needs.
In NVC, we learn to clear our language of disruptive judgments, criticism, sidestepping, blame, and dismissal, and we learn to translate other people's expressions of these into unmet needs.
When we begin to then give words to the (often hidden or unexpressed) emotional and physical body’s experience, we move into what I call Somatic Empathy or Resonance, an approach to the practice of NVC that lets us integrate emotional and physical relaxation and self-compassion.
We need to understand that the reasons for our distress make sense. Connecting to the of-courseness of people's reactions to the world we live in through NVC's needs helps us connect to the humanity of others, instead of blaming people for the flawed strategies we sometimes use to express our distress.
A committed practice of NVC takes on-going long-term learning and immersion to change the deeply wired habits of language that most of us come out of childhood with. See the resources page or get in touch to get started.
